Awesome podcast. I enjoyed it, you girls raised some interesting points and I'm definitely going to go and read some of the fics you mentioned. I can't wait for the next one.

Hey guys! Very interesting first episode. Oh, and I know who everyone is... hah.

Going to bookmark the two stories you guys mentioned that I have not read (I know... only two) and get around to reading them when I can.

Thanks for the recs and doing a freakin' PODCAST about fanfic. This is truly awesome. (And I love - LOVE - hearing Rialle speak because it's all about the accent.)

Congrats on the first episode, ladies. Mwah.

Loved the podcast and the interesting points you made. Can't wait for the next one. It's funny actually matching a voice to a screen name (and I have to say, I love Claire's accent haha)!

One thing though - most of the podcast was clear and easy to understand, but Claire sounded a bit garbled and sometimes I couldn't make out what she was saying. I don't know if this is because she's overseas, but I'd thought I'd let you know.

Keep up the great work!

Yeah, that was my fault because a) I speak too fast and b)I had a problem with my audio settings. Rest assured that will be fixed before the next episode. -Claire

Thanks for listening!

Yeah thumbs up on the podcast, the British accent, and thanks for the reccomendations. It's large sea of fan flotsom to wade through so thanks for the reccomendations.

Oh and as to the dare...I ate shark once on a dare..cooked, not too scary, but I dared a guy to eat the gum stuck to the underside of a table.

Awesome podcast. Absolutely fantastic. =]
Regarding 'All humans', I used to be completely against them. In the beginning I completely refused to read them but I then discovered a couple like "THE TEENAGE ANGST BRIGADE" by jandco and (I think) "Welcome to the drama academy". I then read some others like "A world without sound" and now I love them! Some of the Vampire ones just get repetitive after a while as there isn't a lot else you can do. All my plots are completely different but all slightly similar. If that makes any sense whatsoever. =]
I actually sent a PM to Claire on fanfiction; I'm 100% positive I know you from somewhere! My sisters think so too…
Anyway, off to listen to the 2nd episode!
Rebecca.

I listened.

Good podcast, a bit rough around the edges. More scripting and more rehearsal and forethought on everyone's parts before recording would go a long way towards tightening it up. I thought the conversations were insightful and I'll definitely be checking out the stories that you mentioned.

Why do we read/write them?
like someone else has pointed out, the vamp stories get a little repetative. there really is only so much you can do with that. but, that doesn't mean that canon, or vamp stories are bad. just that you can do a lot more with AH

Is difficult to go back to canon stories?
not really. i get more mixed up going between AH stories. details blur together, and i think that something that happened in one fanfic happened in a different one.

What was the first all human story we read?
i don't remember. the first one i remember falling in love with was Beauty and the Geek by (her penname was Juliette Dawson at the time, and still is on Twilighted) Elodie Harker. i read it because i had just read the chapters she had up of her other story at the time, for Esme and the Cliff, and i have a habit of looking at people's profiles after i read their story, so i just decided to give it some love since it had only 6 reviews. i even mentioned my obsession with canon. so, it was the first one. she is actually the author who got me into AH. not sure wether i want to give her a virtual hug, or virtually kill her.....

anyway, i loved the podcast. im going to spend every free second i get listening to it on my ipod (oh the beauty of that infernal piece of technology!)

-scowl- I hate typos. *ARE* *ARE* crap.

Oh yeah, also:

1. Why do we read/write them?

I write/read AH stories because I can more easily relate to Edward and Bella that way, and I tend to like not having to overdo a crisis. Where's the fun if its easily solved? As Vampire/Human relationship goes, Its quite unbalanced, and tends to lean more to worrying/masochism than anything else. If I'm looking for a light fluffy fic, I usually write something that is All Vamps or All Human. That and I've fallen in love with Edward's green eyes... -swoon- However, if I'm looking for angst or more than smaller problems, I'd write all Canon.

2. For me its not very difficult going back into canon stories.

3. Ugh... First story? It might have been Boycotts and Barflies. xD I'm pretty sure that one was earlier on my list, and that inspired me to write AH and read more.

Hello there!

I have not yet read the podcast, but I am certainly planning to now.

First off, let me say that the first fanfiction story I have ever read was Vampires in Vegas by none other than the famous VGJM, the very author that inspired me to write my own fanfiction.

Second, thank you to Autumn who posted two comments above mine for mentioning me! It makes me so happy that people enjoy my stories, and surprises me that someone actually read my first story. Haha!

Why write fanfiction? I started for practice before I began writing my own original book, which I am working on now. It provides all the things an aspiring author needs: free publishing, instant criticism whereas sending manuscripts to publishers and receiving their thoughts takes weeks or months even, a large pool of readers, and the essential experience of writing for strangers who are unbiased to read.

Why do we read fanfiction?

First of all, why not? It is absolutely free, the site is virus-free, and it is completely anonymous. We get more of the books we love, and are addicted to. Always wanting more of a completed series, it is the closest thing to the real stories.

Yes, can you guys post the first few episodes back up on iTunes? I really want to get re-introduced to the hosts of the podcast even though I've been listening since episode 24- fall of emmett. I still haven't figured out all the hosts by voice... is Claire the one with the british accent? So please, if you can re-post the earlier episodes back up, it would be lovely.
