Mini Episode 2 - With Claire and Danielle

Author: Tempation Staff // Category: , ,
Christine and I weren't available to record this weekend so I asked Danielle and Claire if they would record a mini episode where they answered some emails, and maybe spoke about what they were reading. They gave me this. I'm almost tempted to make it episode twelve....

That was fun. But I'm sad that you'll be missing for a while. Have a lot of fun in France Claire! Have a lot of fun... Danielle, whatever you're doing?

I'm really enjoying your story, even though I'm not British.

$$$ <--- to be put toward a Twilight DVD fund.

Un-a-shame-ed-ly... erm, shamlessly? I dunno.

Good episode!

Most excellent ladies!

I am ashamed to say after hearing Danielle talk about the Harry/Carlisle fic I emailed Christine and was like WHAT THE HALE -- YOU DIDN'T SHARE THIS AWESOME WITH ME!?!?!?!?!!! And of course my dunderheadedness got the wrong chick on the podcast. ~Hangs head in shame~

Claire. I miss you already. Come back only after you do something that would get you arrested -- but don't go to jail ok love?

Your rules on not FLAMING -- I ADORED. I think it needs to go in written format and posted on the blog.

Hi Claire and Danielle,

I've never corresponded with AngstGoddess and have no attachment to the story, but it's a shame you girls aren't feeling inclined to read Wide Awake. :( I've been an avid listener since episode one, and I've been dying to hear opinions on it. I don't consider myself a huge all human fan either, but the story is truly breathtaking. You guys are THE PODCAST for everything Twilight Fan Fic and to opt out on one of the most notable fics in the fandom doesn't make sense to me. I know it's really long, but I just hope you'll dedicate a little time on an episode to discussing the effect the story is/has had.

Also, I agree with your comments about it just being fan fiction (tips for avoiding drama were great) and there is a real line we all need to draw, but it is a substantial hobby. While we are "ripping off Stephenie Meyer's books", the talent around is astounding. These stories are having an effect. I I teach high school classes, and when I mentioned "Wide Awake" in a classroom full of senior girls, I am not exaggerating when I say that at least fourteen of them shot their hands up saying "OOOOHH, I'm dying for the next chapter." These were girls I've never heard speak of fan fiction before in my life. The Twilight saga has a fanfic base that I think is unprecedented. Not only that, I tried to reach Twilighted at work and found the site blocked because my department chair said it was receiving approximately 300 visits a day from inside our campus. There's only 650 students...

Now, I must recommend for you something which I'm sure you've heard rumblings about: The Vampire in the Basement by Michellephants on ff.net. It's off to an amazing start. Hope you'll give it a try.

Thanks for a fun episode!
Shannon

Hmmm.. I totally agree with your tip "If you don't like the way the story your reading is written - write one yourself". That's actually the reason why I started to write New Moon AU's, because I was tired of reading the same plot over and over again (of course, that was before I found In The Blink of An Eye and Seducing Ms Swan).

Another great episode girls, and good luck with the therapy!

I'm listening to this right now, and I'm actually crying with laughter - Caitlin the bone...
My friend once dropped a barbeque on her toe, if that makes you guys feel better :)

Haha I watched Fight Club when i was 8 and GOD it terrified me...I didn't look at soap the same way for months.

'Angry little ball of tinkerbell energy' - you have no idea how much I love you for that :D

So funny - Thanks! Love, dreaming in black and white xxx :)

If you remember, Claire, I backed up my dislike for Fight Club by saying it was pretentious, (it really is) and that's why I didn't like it.

LOL Danielle, just because we didn't like the rules doesn't mean we've done any of them.

And what the hale? You guys have AMAZING fic recs the one week I'm not there? Harry/Carlisle! Bella/Jasper! You both are on my ON NOTICE list. Don't let it happen again.

Thanks for 'stealing my identity', Claire, and making me sound like a huge hick. :P

I concur with Christine ON NOTICE -- any HP crossovers should be in smellyia's box ASAP.

PLEASE I BEG FOR THEM!!!

BAHAHAHAHA -- Christine. I am so glad that i'm not the only one who thought so. it was well done but a bit on the side of silly poofter imo.

And 2 Fist Pumps for Caitlin who was recognized by MARK JEFFREYS FOR HER YA REC ON TLYDF -- yeah. he saw. he liked and now Caitlin is the shiz -- even moreso than before.

oh and ladies -- you read whatever you want regardless of what fandom deems you should read. it's a beautiful thing to have freedom of choice imo. It doesn't mean you don't talk about more notable fics that MANY are already reading -- you just make personal choices and that is your right. I <3 you all for the time, money and effort you all put out there to deliver us this fantastic Podcast each week and love every bit of material you choose to discuss -- regardless if its my taste or not -- why? BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO AND YET YOU CHOOSE TO. APPLAUSE!

Loved this episiode, guys =)

I have a fanfiction to recommend that I think you'd enjoy.

It's called "Vampire in the Basement"
http://twilighted.net/viewstory.php?sid=3268

So far it's very good.
Bella knows the Cullens from high school. She knows them through Alice. She also knows their secret. While Emmett, Jasper, and Carlisle are out hunting, they come up a corpse. Or what looks like a corpse. They bring him home in hopes of figuring out who he is and what happened to him

Christine Says :

And I think that's the fifth (fifth, guys?) time someone has rec'd that fic to us.

It must be really good. I'll have to check it out.

I have this awesome fanfic recommendation.

Blue skies and wilted daffodils by RidingonDreams
It is set in new moon when Edward leaves bella goes to Denali to find Laurent and asks him to chang her. He changes her and takes her to the volturi to exchange her for a reward. Meanwhile Jake is freaking out at home and victoria comes to forks and bella comes back because of it. Jake then imprints on her. Soo good their is 26 chapters in it so far. It has a little of jake/bella but not really because bella doesn't have the same feelings. p;ease read.

Hey girlies! Thanks for making me laugh and for providing some great entertainment to my Sunday!

For the record, I agree with you that Fight Club is a phenomenal movie! Seriously, superb!

I also agree that it is annoying when fans make "hate" clubs for a story or something they don't like. Why waste your time? It really is a mystery to me.

Anyways, i did rec this fic on the epic rec post, but just wanted to mention it again. Do with it as you please:

Fall For You by Live720

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4624886/1/Fall_For_You

It is a B/J story which doesn't exclude Edward. It is an AU of New Moon. A "what if" story to answer some burning questions I had that the book left me empty handed. I know like only one of you tolerates B/J, Claire? I believe? So maybe she should read it. It really is a good one! Love to hear it discussed.

Well, talk to you soon.

Sarah

Wide Awake is well written but it's somewhat of a mish mash of previous fanfic works that deal with similar issues. That's my main problem with it. People who are newer to fanfiction won't see what it's been derived from, but if you've been around a couple years or more, you can tell exactly which authors she read before writing.

Well, ladies, quite a hilarious concoction you've made. It had all the normal perks- witty remarks, randomness, and banter (which surprisingly enough, you guys agreed on more subjects than usual).

Danielle, $$$$$- here is some virtual money for you. I finally got my Ultimate Collector's Edition in Friday, the 27th. Claire, have fun in Paris & Switzerland.

Christine, it's okay, I didn't too much care for Fight Club either.

Finally, yes Claire, read Fall For You. I recommended this in an e-mail at some point, don't know if it every made it around to you though. The author really is great. Plus, it as an additional twist that I think makes for one super hot vampire named Cole.

As always, can't wait for the next podcast, but I will miss Claire & Danielle.

Hey guys,
Great podcast, much too funny to be listened to in public.
I take your recs seriously and you have yet to lead me wrong, so thank you.
I haven't listened to all the episodes as I'm a bit of a latecomer (as a matter of fact, I'm working my way backwards and have just listened to mini-episode 1), but have you ever discussed my main problem with WIPs, especially AH?
I can't keep them straight. The characters are slightly different in each one, yet their basic characteristics and names are the same. The plot and relationships are also often not terribly different from each other.
So, when I get an update alert on a longish story, the rest of which I read weeks or even months ago, I mix many of the different plot and character twists from numerous stories together in my head as I read this lonely chapter and end up slightly confused. Of course, there are standouts - slightly more memorable or remarkable stories that stick in my head better.
So, do you guys read any amount of WIPs simultaneously and manage to tell them apart well? Is it just that I'm reading too much fanfiction? Or maybe it's just lack of brain capacity on my part?
Lots of love and keep up the good work.
Claire, have fun in France. Où je travaille, moi, on parle français toute la journée :-).

I could not stop laughing the whole time during this! I was riding the car with my grandparents on the way to visit family for a weekend trip when I was listening to it. They must think I'm insane because I would randomly burst out laughing during this whole eposide! Great job ladies!
And Claire, I'm so jealous you get to go to France! I've always wanted to go, I hope you have fun!
