Episode 12 : Because We Had No Problems

Author: Tempation Staff // Category: ,
Hey everyone, here's our latest episode with special guest host Pastiche Pen! The title of the episode comes from something that I say near the end. It is ironic because as soon as we were finished recording...well...we had problems.

    Great episode!

I have a rec for you - I'm pretty sure it's in the epic recommendation post, but talking about Leah-fics, OC's, and "real" werewolves made me think of it.

It's called East, by princesswingnut (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4534277/1/East), and it's absolutely incredible. Basically the premise is that Leah goes to Sam and Emily's wedding, gets pissed off, and jets to England to research the "Children of the Moon." There's a whole host of original (although, SIDE) characters, including some villians, and it's amazingly entertaining.

Seriously, try it out. You won't regret it.

    Hey

Another good episode! I love that my "Newbie Resource Center" is catching on. Can't wait to see your 'must reads' because I'm sure there will be some that I haven't ever read. (I'm still sort of new too. I fell victim back in August...)

It's nice to hear new voices too. Shannon sounds a little like Serena from Gossip Girl. (I know she has a real name I just can't think of it.) So cute!

As for WA... I've been reading it all week. It's freakin' long! You sort of have to dedicate some time and devote yourself to it. It's a big commitment. I don't think I'll know whether or not I like it until it's over. It's one of those. But I can say that it's original, creative, and interesting. Oh right, and angsty.

    Good episode!

I have an OC fic recommendation, Cannon by Sidekick55 (it's post-BD). I wasn't a fan of Breaking Dawn and I never thought I'd actually like an OC, especially not as a main character, but I really got into this one. I don't really want to say much about the plot because I will probably make it sound really strange, but read the first chapter all the way to the end and you'll get a pretty good idea about what the rest of it is going to be like.

I have Leah love too! Thanks to you, Pastiche, actually. I read Princess Bertha's fics after your rec over on TLYDF and it completely made Leah one of my favorite characters. So thanks for that!

Any other Leah fic recommendations? Or funny fics in general? I've started on the list on your livejournal (I hope you don't think I'm stalking you) and they're all excellent.

Oh, I'm Koka Kola, by the way. I left a few posts over on the twilighted thread for Nymph a while back (which remains one of my favorite and funniest fics in the fandom).

yeah i totally agree with the mary sue characters. i read this fic where the author wrote herself into the plot and it wasn't really necessary at all and it does freak me out, too! anyway great episode and now i have to add more stories to my never ending list of to reads!

Hey, Koka! - I do have a LIST of funny fic, actually.

New Beginning by donteatmycookie, IMO, is the funniest in the fandom - I just laugh with happy tears.

Hey, ladies! Another great podcast episode completed. Pastiche Pen, you were a good addition. I immediately recognized your name. I was sitting here reading the notes prior to listening and then I read special guest... Pastiche Pen. So, then I proceeded to totally had a fan girl moment, "OMGoodness, that is Angst's Beta!" BTW, you do fabulous work for her b/c I don't often find any mistakes. Anyways, moving on. Claire's accent is fabulous, but the podcast would never be the same without all of you there, so I wouldn't necessarily dub her "the favorite." I think Leah's character is complex & have always felt intrigued with her. So, I will definitely have to check out the rec'ed stories. I will never be caught up. Thank you ladies as always for the entertainment; I will be looking forward to your next episode.

    Ladies,

I think it was Smellyia who recently pointed out that when you write a OOC Edward or Bella (or any Twilight character), you are writing an OC by default and slapping a familiar label on it. Just another way of looking at it.
I wrote two OC's that fit perfectly into the Cullen's existing world, but I had to do A LOT of writing to justify their presence. But, I thought it turned out well. Yes, not very popular, but well received by those who took the time.
Looking forward to your next outing, HW

I love The Red Line. It is easily one of the most graphic, heart wrenching stories I've read.

Hi! This may seem a little bit random, but I remember hearing the podcast one day and there was this specific story that sounded interesting. It was about Bella during NM,and how one day she was making a sandwich and it fell and she started to cry because it reminded her of her life.

I have been trying to find it but I just can't. Would you happen to know what it is? Thanks!

The Red Line is very odd to me. It's well written, and I like some parts. But to have the basis of the story dependent on a counseling student who pays this guy for her counsel him essentially - all the while she's using him as a whore--seems to simply further the exploitation and objectification of Edward. I find the logic completely insane and Bella, who should know better given her place in school and in life, just becoming another person who is manipulating him, really disturbing.

Anonymous- I think the story you're referring to is 'Fall to Pieces' by Warui-Usagi.

Incredible oneshot by an author who is consistently excellent.

Hi! Love the podcast :) In this episode Christine mentioned that she's part of a "Geeky Edward" community. I checked her ff profile but didn't see a link to that particular C2. Could you post a link for that please? I adore nerdy Edward.

    Christine Says :
    April 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM

The only C2s that show up on profiles are the ones that person started or is a staff member on. As I am neither for 'Geek Edward' (sadly), it won't show up on my profile.

    But here's the link:

    Enjoy!
