So far Bittersweet Hurt and Restoration have been updated! We're so freakin' magical!!! Ha-ha-ha!

Caitlin Says :
April 9, 2009 at 3:23 PM

Also, Danielle updates How to Hear without being told about what we talked about. We really are magical.

Also, I seem to have named this episode two different things.

I don't know why.

Hello, ladies. It was a pleasure listening to you again. Hope, nice to hear from you as well. Well, I must say, every time Christine has mentioned slash on previous episodes, I was a bit turned off to the idea. Much like Caitlin, I didn't see how others could find it appealing. However, after your thorough discussion of the topic today, I am absolutely intrigued. I will take your recommendations and at least do a trial run before totally dismissing the idea. See ladies, your efforts to enlighten others haven't been unrewarded. You might just be changing one reader at a time. I'll be eagerly awaiting your next podcast episode.

Also, Christine, What the Hell?! No, honestly just kidding, you forewarned your readers you would update when you felt like it, so I put no pressure on you whatsoever.

Tempation Staff Says :

What? I updated.

I don't see what the problem is...

Is it because Hope bet me in the updating?

Hey guys, thanks for listing the story ("Beauty") ...

Would y'all be willing to change the link to "Beauty" on my website? It's a better version (cleaner) plus some historical images. :-)

Thank you muchly!

Hey ladies! Was listening to todays podcast. Great list of Slash fics! One that is really good that wasn't on your list is Dark Salvation by kittenmischief (collaboration by fiberkitty & mischief-maker1). It's a D/s story with Jasper as the Dom and Edward as the sub. Basically Edward is a surgeon suffering from PTSD after loosing a patient and Jasper is a psychiatrist that agrees to treat Edward, but his methods aren't quite traditional. It's a great story...you should check it out.

I was wondering why you would mention The Forbidden Room on your podcast for the sole purpose of telling people that you don't recommend it. I realize that it's not to everyone's taste, that's why it's very clearly marked what the story is about. I think it is in poor taste to mention a story in your podcast for the express purpose of telling people that you're "not recommending this story" and that you "couldn't get past chapter 5". I'm sure that you put a lot of work into your stories and your podcast, and would not appreciate it happening to you. I put in a lot of work to TFR - it's well written, has complex characters and relationships, and even through the most recent chapter (27), they still don't know how it will end.

If your subscribers are interested in a different take on the reaction to my story, they can check out the Twilighted forum. Needless to say, they didn't agree with your assessment: http://twilighted.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=2425&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=forbidden+room&start=690

Great episode once again! And that's exciting that you're coming to Seattle, Caitlin. That's where I live, but I probably won't be going to Sakura-Con. Hope you enjoy yourself though!

And thanks for updating Resident Geek, Christine.

My sincerest apologies, Christine. It isn't your fault that FF.net decided not to let me know there had been an update. So, I apologize for my supposed comical attempt at getting you to update. You are fabulous!

I really enjoyed the podcast this week. I thought Hope was a great guest host and really added a lot to the discussion. It was also a squee worthy listen to get some sneak peaks into both of her main stories.

I really hope this podcast accomplishes two things, first it gets more people to read these stories, second it inspires people to write more slash. GOOD slash. We need more good slash.

I literally squealed out loud when I heard you bring up my screen name. I'm glad I could provide some good links for you. I am looking forward to reading the other two that was brought up that I haven't heard of (Bittersweet Hurt and At The Deep End).

In response to Caitlin saying she doesn't get slash, I have to ask if she has a similar confusion with why lesbian porn is such a huge part of the porn industry? I mean goodness knows there is about as much lesbian porn as hetero porn. Does that also evoke a similar "I don't get it" response or is that only because it is two men? I mean clearly giving the large amount of lesbian porn out there, the fact that someone can find two people of the same sex getting busy super hot shouldn't be all that shocking or befuddling.

Hey I loved this episode. :) I'm glad you're doing guest hosts, they really add to the podcast, I think. The interview was well-done, as well as the answers to it. ALTHOUGH I miss the other two hosts, Claire and Danielle--when will you guys have a full panel again?

Christine Says :
April 10, 2009 at 4:38 PM

The MINUTE Claire is back from skiing the Swiss Alps, we're dragging her into an episode. And since Danielle will have been kidnapped by Caitlin already, she'll be there as well.

*sigh* People and their RLs... that needs to stop.

Hi bbs, thanks so much for the shout-out for Over The Top. It was lovely to hear Hopey live and almost in person, and your review of OTT made my heart sing. :) And to hear my bff mozzer mentioned too, was icing on the cake, bbs.

I have to say something about Beauty Shining in Company...it's THREE CHAPTERS LONG. No one - and I mean no one - has an excuse not to have read it. LOL Seriously - Pres. Obama has no excuse either. I allow no leeway from this. :)

Also, I found a new f*ckhot ExJ fic today, which I rec'd on my blog tonight - visit and have a look!

Thanks again, my darlings.

ok, I'm new to the whole podcast concept, so please forgive me. I can't get the direct download to go further then the first 4 words or so of the intro.... *sad face*. And iTunes..I'm not sure I figured out. I think it only is showing me 10 episodes??????

Anywho, even though I can't figure the listening part out (yet), I did want to say THANK YOU for the shout out for At The Deep End (I'm naelany, by the way). I am totally blown away at how this has all taken off.
Seriously, thank you.

i loved the podcast it was really funny! have you guys heard about an audio thing being done where some authors read stories so you can listen whenever, and i heard boycotts and barflies was being done first, so i was just wondering if you guys had heard about this and if you did where i could download it when it's done. thanks and i can't wait to hear the contest entries!

First, thanks for reading and responding to my email. It was kind of surreal to hear you guys talk about it. You guys made some great points, as usual.

Second, I loved your talk on Slash. I've posted my feelings about it on the thread on the Twilighted boards, so I won't bore you with it here. Thanks for the fic recs.

Finally, Christine you are AWESOME! I put my real name on the email, because I didn't want you guys to worry about trying you pronounce my handle. You tried anyway and you were really close. Thank you for trying.

If you want to know how to say it correctly, cause I'm the kind of nerd that obsesses about stuff like this, shoot me an email (einfach.mich@gmail.com).

Thanks again and keep up the good work on the podcast.

I have been thinking about Caitlin's question about the appeal of slash for the last few days.. specifically when she said, "what's in it for me? two dudes who have no interest in me" or some such.. not meaning to misquote you :) Just paraphrasing...

I think part of it is sheer voyeurism.

I think the other part of it is imagining yourself in the position of one of the characters. You can usually find something/some way to connect with one of the characters and they are usually (or, sometimes, depending on your comfort level) doing something that you can relate with and/or find erotic/hot/whatever.

Does that make sense?

Thanks, ladies for the awesome podcast -- keep up the great work.

Caitlin Says :

OK, I meant to respond earlier, and maybe I'll say something on the next episode, but I will answer mozzers question from above.

I don't get why lesbian porn is popular with males. Sure, they get to look at potentially hot naked girls but what is actually going on that would turn them on? They are watching a girl get pleasured, which I'm sure most (if not all) of us will agree takes a little more work then getting a guy off. So really, they watching a female do their job for them, thus driving home the fact that we don't really need them at all. I really don't get it.

It would make more sense to me if straight females were into lesbian porn and straight males were into gay porn. Because then at least something is going on that they could derive pleasure from were it happening to them.

Thanks for answering my question Caitlin, I appreciate you taking the time to explain, I hope you had fun at the convention.

I sort of think along the lines of what Ms. Kathy said.

Excellent Podcast! Sorry, I'm late to the party, but I have a few comments. Hope is amazing. Love TA and AIEK. I really hope she does the EPOV one-shot for FFF.

On the topic of Emmett not being a believable gay, my opinion is that when people write gay Emmett, they lose his character. They either write him too efiminate(sp?) like the stereotype or too rough and tough to compensate for him liking men. I am a very strict canon personalities writer and I'm writing an Em/Ed story right now that takes his character as is, just with a homosexual twist. I'm not a conceited person, but I'm pretty sure that my Emmett is believable and well written. I am around a LOT of gay men and there is no specific way that they act. Some of the "straightest" men I know like the third leg and I also know a lot of metrosexuals that you would think were gay, but are really VERY straight.

As for why I like Slash, the dynamic of the story is completely different than a hetero fic. Where Edward and Bella meet, fall in love, might have certain insecurities, Jasper and Edward meet, question the other's orientation, question their own orientation, over come bigotry, etc, ect. The feelings they feel for one another are still the same as a hetero relationship, but the way in which they find that love is whole different maze of problems.

Okay, onto the next podcast!
