Mini Episode 3: The Epic Episode of Awesomeness

Okay, it's really not a mini episode, unless you count how long we actually spent talking about Twilight fanfic. This just goes to show you, never let two American Sci-Fi nerds talk without a moderator.

Warning to all listeners: Do NOT drink anything while listening to the podcast. I almost spit my drink all over my computer. This episode is definately the funniest I've listened to so far. Well done girls.

Ladies, the was by far (no offense to the Claire & Caitlin) the most hilarious podcast to date! I have spit my drinks, nearly pissed my pants, did that funny breathe & laugh gasp at the same time, & nearly died because of the comical randomness. I honestly think my husband is ready to lock me away for good. I was also talking to my friend on AIM while listening to the podcast, and here are a few excerpts from our conversation: "damn, they are so hilarious, it's just Christine & Danielle & I have spit my drink out sooooo many times it is ridiculous!" "Danielle is freaking awesome, I love her so much right now!" "hahahahaha, she is killing me, I'm dying, my sides are hurting so bad" "They've talked about spanking, hating Caitlin, loving Rob & wanting to get a bedspread of him so she can wake up on top of him & stroke is cheek.........and other areas!" "OMC, Danielle is fixing to do a rap,I can't take it! her name is MC Sparkles, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I'M FUCKING DYING!, She is so WIN!, Word, Sparkle for Life! She is fucking hilarious!" "Dude, they are talking about Frenemies, the story I'm reading now, yes, they love it too" "Frenemies is crazy hot, but their relationship is soooo adorable that I'd love it even without the smut, they are so geeky, competitive, and cute!"

Okay, so first off, I loved the randomness. I am a very random-speaking person myself so I felt connected to you in that way. Yes, you ladies should definitely get caught up on Lost! I have been with it since the beginning, and we are finally freaking learning stuff. I will join in with you on the hate-age of the person who is "dead," because I am envious as well. Three Days Grace is awesome. Danielle, the rap, fake crying, and expressiveness was so...... awesome. For you I will say "Sweet Things!" Goodness, you ladies said so much that I was like, yes, I need to put that in my comment, but I can't even remember it now, shit! I love South Park! Ummm, Christine I think you handled things very appropriately, and that's all I'll say on that. Shit, I've cursed entirely too much and I apologize for that. Okay, this has probably gotten epically long and ridiculous, but the hilarity was so amazing in this episode.

Thanks for making me laugh and I will be looking forward to the next update!

Much love,
Christina

Also, I'm always the last to know, too. At least you guys got into the fandom before me, I just got here in December. I hate when I have to find out after everyone else already thinks it's cool because I like to be unique, dammit!

I'm so in love with Castle on ABC too! I have to admit...I never really knew of Nathan before, but I'm hooked! Girls, this episode was hilarious. I've been listening since episode one, and I have to thank you because you guys really do invite your listeners in and make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A few notes...I do miss "the one we won't speak of" and Claire, but I hope they are both having fun. I think Frenemies is epic in the way that it is so incredibly deep and sexy simultaneously. I'm jealous of Canada's school year calendar. Tell the listener who asked about BD alternatives to hold out a little longer for the Twilighted TwiCon FanFic Contest because hopefully, there will be an abundance of fic just like what she's craving available. Neither of you make me want to bang my head against a wall. Danielle, you are now in love with me because I listened all the way to the very end. :) Thanks for another great episode.

- Shannon

Hi ladies :D Long time listener, first time commenter...

So here's the thing, I just heard of this Awards site through Fiberkitty and Definitely Staying's many great stories being nominated. Thought you might want to let your fans know. I tried voting already and it may be a site problem but I couldn't get it to work. Still, it's always nice to share the love of your Fav story or author.

http://my-smile-is-my-tears.webs.com/ voting ends on the 26th of this month.

Love the podcast, always give me great reads and laughs a plenty! - Cass

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
Thats right Christine I screamed.
Except it was via gmail as i talked to Jen.
And I was screaming in my head. Because Jen kinda e mailed me telling me I get mentioned, so when I woke up and saw the e mail it was a groggy, fuzzy scream.
Thank you for mentioning me and my little story, and my little idea. I now desperately want to start writing it.
And I will say nice things to you danielle if u read my Bella/Boy fic! I struggle with the idea of Edward being with anyone other than Bella- so Bella can be a boy and its ok. Plus the temptation to write slash is too great.
Blame Christine she's like a slash pimp.

Helena.

CULLEN312, Here's two post-BD fics that are read-worthy:
1. Pastische Pen's "Waxing Crescent"
2. Hopeful Wager's "Will you be ready when it comes?"

Both are on FF and Twilighted.

GIRLS: Maybe you should put a generic disclaimer at the start of your episodes to avoid headaches, i.e. "The opinions of fics expressed by the TT hosts and guests are their sole personal opinions, and should not be interpreted as as....ya da ya da ya da."

Hey, searchingforstories here. (Frequent reader, random poster.) I just wanted to put my two cents in here and tell you I am toally with you on The Forbidden Room. I have been reading these stories for over a year now and I consider myself quite the discerning ficster. I recognize cliche very easily and have been through all the tired storylines. I also think I'm pretty good at figuring out who has a talent for writing and who doesn't. If Nina or Manyafandom rec a fic, I read. I will say though that I agree Forbiddedn Room is way too hardcore for me. In my little world, fiberkitty is as hardcore as I get and this story just seems a little disturbing to me, but hey, I am entitled to my opinion, no matter how humble it is. And so are you. I know your over it but really, are you suppossed to like everything? Hang in there girl. Your podcast is inspiring. I love you guys for taking our highly questionable addiction seriously. Thanks for your honest and open opinions. Keep them coming! And to those people who can't handle the truth...get over yourself, if they were that good they'd be published. Period. (I will now run and hide for potentially shooting myself in the ass.)

You guys need to put a disclaimer up on this episode. I nearly rear ended someone this morning while I was listening. :P I was laughing so hard I was crying. Thank goodness I wasn't drinking my coffee at that point... it would have been everywhere. So srly.... you should add:
WARNING: Do not consume beverages, food or operate heavy machinery while listening to this podcast. Failure to head this warning will result in snarfing, choking, a need for a new wardrobe and a neck brace.

Hello-wolvesnvamps here. I was wondering if someone could help me. There is supposedly a good fanfic that is about Edward being addicted to heroin and Bella helping him through it. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Just one comment (OK, two):

Great episode, you crazy chicks :-)

Christine, I can't believe you got guilted into apologizing for voicing an honest opinion on a fic. What good is a review if negative reactions can't be expressed? Anyway, it was still a balanced discussion because Hope was positive about the story. There was no need for the author to throw a hissy fit.

*snort*

I love how completely blown out of proportion it got. I'm just amused about the entire thing now.

But I have deemed it an unmentionable, so we must never speak of this again.

I kept laughing the whole time during this. I loved it. Keep up the great job ladies!
I have a few post-BD suggestions.
"New School" by Lipsmacked (On FF and Twilighted)
"The Misadventures of Renesmee" by SpiderMonkey (Only on Twilighted, I think)
"Another Day Dawns" by Panda1499 and Spoiledash3139 (Only on Twilighted)

Okay, this was a hilarious episode! I absolutely loved it and Danielle you are NOT crazy about the mind-reading thing and the zombie thing, I totally think about that all the time

Before i knew about edward cullen i used to think during class "omigod what if that person right there can read my mind RIGHT NOW" and my brain will subconsciously go to the one thought that will absolutely disgust that particular person the most... usually smutty. And the more paranoid I'd get the more explicit and dirty my imagination would go. My brain is out to get me

And after i watched shaun of the dead which isn't even a horror, i spent an embarrassingly large number of my nights just staying awake all night just looking round my room planning the optimum route of escape from my bedroom from a zombie attack, and i'd sleep with a badminton racquet next to my bed. So you aren't totally insane. Either that or we both are.

Hi Christine - I think it was you who was swooning over Simon Pegg but I was surprised you didn't mention Hot Fuzz. Have you not seen it?

Lucy

Have I not seen it? Moi? Not seen a Simon Pegg movie??

Lucy, not only have I seen it, but I own the sucker and bought it for all of my friends.

In retrospect, I'm surprised I didn't mention it either. I guess I was too excited about Star Trek.

I absolutely adore this podcast. I cracked up so much. I always do. To Danielle: Honey! Pixie Stixs! Cotton Candy! Hot Fudge Sunday! See, I stayed till the end and said sweet things to you. But really, your rap was... there are no words. It really as quite amazing. And holy crap about the mind reading thing. Ever since I can remember I get these random bouts of mindreading paranoia where I pretend that I know that the person supposedly reading my mind is doing it and I try to get someone to react to my thoughts. Crazy, I know.

So, I have two major questions in this comment. First, I'm super sad that Frenemies got taken down! I adore that fic and I'm more than a little upset by that and Black and White getting taken down. While I understand to a certain extent, there are things about both retractions that make me want to throw chairs. So, to the author's, I wish you all the all the luck in the world in your endeavors. As a reader, I'll just have to get over it, but I would like to know what you all at the podcast think about these fics being removed.

Next on my agenda, I'm really glad that Christine didn't just lay down and say that she was wrong. Apologizing for unintentionally offending someone is fine, but I've seen cases where someone names a fic offhandedly and the author of said fic flips for so reason at all. There was nothing wrong with what you said about The Forbidden Room and congrats for sticking up for your opinions. That's why I like this show so much. You never blatantly say, "This fic is bad," but you have no qualms over saying that something is just not your thing. I love that.

On a semi-related note that leads to my second question, I was wondering what your opinions are on flames. I think that flames are horrible and a fic never, under any circumstances, deserves them. On the other hand, I sometimes enjoy getting flames because of my naturally argumentative personality. I fight with people about things I'm passionate for and I like it (although I hate drama; explain to me how that one works). Flames, I deal with and I can brush off like no one's business, but, recently, I came across some very rude talk about my fic that was between two authors in an open forum and it really threw me for a loop. I'm all about saying what you mean and meaning what you say, but I hate people who talk behind others' backs. It was really hard for me to not take offense to the things they said so bluntly and although I don't claim to be the worlds most talented writer, I do like to be respected as a person. To me, these things should be kept private or told directly to the person in question, not out in the open for anyone to stumble upon, including the author.

So I guess my question is for this is, do you guys get flames or have you accidently found flames about your fics? If so, how did you deal with them and how do you feel about flames in general?
